Ian, a seasoned medical professional, embarked on his journey in the field of medicine when he qualified from Newcastle Medical School in 1991. His extensive training took him across the North of England, Australia, and New Zealand, shaping a diverse and comprehensive foundation for his medical career.
Since 2002, Ian has dedicated his skills and expertise as a full-time NHS consultant in Anaesthesia and Critical Care. His commitment to medical service extends beyond borders, as evidenced by his deployments to the Balkans, Iraq, and Afghanistan as a member of the Defence Medical Services. In these challenging environments, Ian seamlessly transitioned between pre- and in-hospital roles, showcasing his adaptability and resilience.
Following his military service, Ian continued to make a meaningful impact by collaborating with various medical charities. In this capacity, he provided crucial training and strategic advice to several developing nations, contributing to the enhancement of healthcare systems globally.
Currently serving as the Anaesthesia Lead for the David Nott Foundation, Ian expresses his honour in supporting the organization’s mission. His role involves not only providing assistance but also passing on his wealth of knowledge to clinical colleagues worldwide. Through his contributions, Ian plays a vital role in empowering medical professionals to enhance the quality of clinical care on a global scale.
