Sudan
Following a geopolitical fracture of the Sudanese state in 2011, the region has suffered years of conflict and instability. War paved the way for mass violence in April 2023, brought on by a power struggle between military groups.
Today, precarious politics and long-standing economic pressures have left over 15.8 million people in need of humanitarian aid, and with no resolution in sight. Sudan’s health care system is rapidly deteriorating.
Frontline surgical course
We have an opportunity to train the doctors who bravely remain in the region, and by doing so, help them tackle the complex trauma cases faced on a day-to-day basis. As with all our programmes, we are actively assessing the surgical landscape in Sudan to determine how we can have the greatest impact for the well-being of the Sudanese people.
We aim to carry out a six day mission to Sudan, that will include both a surgical HEST course and a HEST-Anaesthesia course. We will do this by partnering with a trusted, on-the-ground organisation and look forward to expanding our global network of trained doctors.
