Tim Law
Chief Operating Officer
As Chief Operating Officer, Tim manages the day-to-day running of the charity to enable its provision of safe, skilled surgical care for all.
Tim has a wealth of experience in senior leadership, strategic and operational positions, most recently at ShelterBox, an international disaster relief NGO. Prior to entering the humanitarian sector, he had a distinguished career as a diplomat and soldier, completing his service leading the British defence team in Beijing through the recent pandemic. A Cambridge graduate, he now holds three Masters degrees and – with an enduring interest in political science and geopolitics – is a long-serving fellow of the Royal Geographical Society. An enthusiastic traveller with a keen interest in other cultures, Tim has lived and worked in many countries, most recently in Iraq, Afghanistan, the People’s Republic of China, Ukraine, and Somalia. He has a strong social and environmental conscience and commits himself to championing diversity.
Formerly chair of armed forces cricket, he remains involved in the sport by providing strategic guidance as a director on his county’s board and as a vice-president of British Army cricket. During the close season, he enjoys spending time in the great outdoors, especially when surrounded by family and friends. He is also a keen patron of the performing arts, particularly enjoying jazz, classical music, and opera.
